Assuring Better Child Health & Development

Assuring Better Child Health & Development (ABCD) provides training and consultation to primary care, early childhood, and community agencies to promote better child health and development outcomes through screening and referral. Learn more about ABCD.

Child Care Health Consultation

Child Health Care Consultants (CCHCs) are medical professionals who assist child care and preschool programs in meeting and exceeding basic health and safety standards. Healthy Child Care Colorado serves as the state network hub for CCHCs. Connect with a nearby CCHC.

Child Find Evaluation

Child Find for children ages 3 through 5 years old is part of the public school system in Colorado to identify children suspected of having a delay in development as early as possible. If a young child is not meeting typical developmental milestones, or if someone is concerned about the child’s growth or learning, a referral can be made to Child Find at no cost to families.

If a Child Find evaluation team, which includes the family, has gathered enough information to determine a child is eligible for preschool special education services, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) is developed. The IEP describes the special education services that will be provided by the local school district and/or Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in the preschool classroom. Community Health Network

Community Health Centers, also called Federally Qualified Health Centers, are federally designated to serve all families regardless of their ability to pay. They are located in medically underserved communities or populations and provide comprehensive health care, including access to dental and mental health services. Early Childhood Councils

The Department of Early Childhood partners with Early Childhood Councils statewide to administer quality improvement and systems-building efforts. Connect with your Early Childhood Council.

Nurturing Connections Colorado

Every child has mental health, and caregivers play an important role in building children’s social-emotional skills. The Nurturing Connections Colorado Support Line is a no-cost, confidential resource for anyone who cares for children under six. The support line can help you to better understand and support the well-being of the young children in your care, including children who may currently be struggling. Call 833-326-4411 or complete the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation referral form.

Health First Colorado Regional Organizations

Members of Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program) have a primary care provider and belong to a regional organization that can help connect them with the health care they need. Connect with a nearby Regional Organization.

Healthy Child Care Colorado

Healthy Child Care Colorado promotes best practices in early childhood health by offering support with eco-healthy child care®, lactation-friendly child care, oral health, outdoor learning/playground safety, and social-emotional health. HCCC serves as the hub for the Child Care Health Consultation Network, Pyramid Colorado Network, and ECMHC Network. Learn more about HCCC.

Family Resource Centers

Family Resource Centers (FRCs) serve as a single point of entry for providing comprehensive, intensive, and integrated state and community-based services to vulnerable families, individuals, children, and youth. FRCs connect families to many types of resources, such as clothing, food, emergency financial assistance, childcare, and benefit enrollment. FRCs offer services consisting of family development and family support, home visitation, and parent education guided by the following principles:

All families have strengths.
Colorado needs healthy and cohesive families.
Families are best served by a local family resource center that prioritizes their community’s needs.
Family resource centers work in collaboration with public and private entities.
Family resource centers provide safe and engaging environments.

Early Childhood Councils

The Department of Early Childhood also partners with Early Childhood Councils statewide to participate in the work to unify the early childhood system and systems building efforts. Connect with your Early Childhood Council.

Raising Colorado Kids

The Colorado Department of Early Childhood has launched www.RaisingColoradoKids.com, a user-friendly platform that simplifies access to early childhood services and family resources. This platform consolidates information from 5,500 web pages from 15 different sites into one accessible, easy-to-navigate resource for early childhood services in both English and Spanish.

Families can now use this single, powerful hub to anonymously discover over 20 services they may qualify for, check application statuses for programs like CCCAP and Colorado Universal Preschool, and seamlessly connect with additional resource finders like Colorado Shines and 2-1-1 Colorado.

Illuminate Colorado

Illuminate Colorado offers targeted services to empower parents and caregivers with the tools and resources they need to create safe, nurturing environments for their children. Learn more about Illuminate’s programs and initiatives.
